Gatotkaca is a Tank/Fighter who turns incoming damage into Physical Defense and Rage, then answers with a healing enhanced Basic Attack. Pick him when your team needs a durable engage, a long-range Ultimate, and a taunt that can hold Basic Attack carries; avoid blind dives when enemy cleanse or displacement is still ready.

Quick answer: Upgrade Blast Iron Fist at level 1, prioritize it with Unbreakable as the backup, and level Avatar of the Guardian whenever available. Use Tank Emblem with Vitality, Festival of Blood, and Concussive Blast plus Revitalize for the observed sustain setup. In teamfights, land Avatar of the Guardian, charge Unbreakable through the priority target, place Blast Iron Fist under the taunt, then spend Rage with an enhanced Basic Attack.
In-game context: MLBB game version 2.1.88.12027, observed on August 9, 2026. The current in-game snapshot covers four skill panels and Notes, four validated demonstrations, five ranked Pro Setups, 12 equipment long presses, the visible emblem and Battle Spell route, level-one stats, story panels, and seven Gatotkaca Shop skin cards.

Gatotkaca Skills and Decision Rules

Steel Bones Gatotkaca skill icon

1. Steel Bones - Buff / Heal

Gatotkaca gains Physical Defense equal to 2% of his lost HP (up to 200). He gains 5 Rage (up to 100) for every 300 damage taken (calculated before reduction). Upon reaching 25 Rage, Gatotkaca's next Basic Attack is enhanced, consuming all Rage to deal (+100% Total Physical Attack) (+200% Total Magic Power) (+8.2-11 * Consumed Rage) Magic Damage (scales with hero level) and recover (8 * Consumed Rage) HP.

When: Absorb damage until Rage reaches at least 25, then hit a hero or minion only when the heal and magic burst matter.

Do not: Do not waste a full-Rage enhanced attack on an irrelevant target before an engage.

2. Blast Iron Fist - AOE / Slow

Gatotkaca slams the ground, creating a shattered zone in the target direction while dealing 200 (+150% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage to enemies within. Enemies in the shattered zone will take 100 (+20% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage per second and be slowed by 30%.

When: Place the shattered zone under a taunted enemy or across a retreat path for repeated magic damage and a 30% slow.

Do not: Do not throw it at maximum range before allies can capitalize on the slow.

3. Unbreakable - CC / Mobility

Gatotkaca begins channeling, then sprints in the target direction with a battle cry, taunting enemies on the path to attack him, dealing 200 (+100% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage for 0.9 - 1.5s. The taunt duration and sprint distance scale with the channel time. Canceling the skill reduces 50% of the remaining cooldown.

When: Charge from cover when possible; longer channel time extends the sprint and taunt up to 1.5 seconds.

Do not: Do not show the full charge in open vision when the target can simply sidestep or interrupt it.

4. Avatar of the Guardian - CC / Mobility

Gatotkaca jumps to the target location, dealing 500 (+300% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage to nearby enemies and knocking them airborne for 1s. Enemies near the center of the area will be knocked airborne for a longer duration, while enemies on the fringes will be pulled to the center. The camera will move with the skill indicator but won't grant extra sight.

When: Target an allied crowd-control setup or a narrow escape route; the center gives the longest airborne window.

Do not: Do not use the camera movement as vision—the indicator grants no extra sight.

Gatotkaca Skill Priority

Upgrade Blast Iron Fist at level 1 and prioritize it, use Unbreakable as the backup upgrade, and level Avatar of the Guardian whenever available. The first skill improves lane control and reliable damage, while Unbreakable scales the engage that holds enemies inside the shattered zone.

Gatotkaca Combos for Teamfights and Lane

Teamfight combo

Gatotkaca Teamfight combo step 1Gatotkaca Teamfight combo step 2Gatotkaca Teamfight combo step 3Gatotkaca Teamfight combo step 4

Why: Avatar of the Guardian opens from range, Unbreakable taunts enemies after the landing, Blast Iron Fist adds the slow and damage zone, and the enhanced Basic Attack spends Rage for burst and healing.

Do not: Do not land outside allied follow-up or spend Rage just before the dive.

Laning combo

Gatotkaca Laning combo step 1Gatotkaca Laning combo step 2Gatotkaca Laning combo step 3

Why: Charge Unbreakable to reach and taunt the opponent, place Blast Iron Fist on their retreat path, then use the Rage-enhanced Basic Attack.

Do not: Do not overcharge in plain sight or chase beyond the next enemy wave.

How to Play Gatotkaca by Game Phase

Early game

Clear with Blast Iron Fist while keeping the shattered zone on both the wave and opposing laner. Trade after taking enough damage to prepare Steel Bones, then spend Rage on a target that returns useful healing.

Mid game

Move before Turtle fights, hold vision near a side angle, and use Avatar of the Guardian after allied control or when enemies enter a narrow path. Turn the landing into Unbreakable rather than walking away from your own slow zone.

Late game

Track cleanse and displacement before committing. Gatotkaca can start from range, but he still needs teammates close enough to use the airborne and taunt windows. When a dive is unsafe, peel the marksman with Unbreakable and save Avatar for a counter-engage.

Five Gatotkaca Mistakes to Avoid

1. Spending Rage before the fight

The enhanced Basic Attack is both damage and recovery. Entering without it removes a major part of Gatotkaca's durability.

2. Treating the Ultimate as vision

The camera follows the indicator, but it grants no extra sight. Do not jump into an unscouted bush.

3. Landing without follow-up

A long-range engage fails when teammates need several seconds to reach the target.

4. Copying one defense row blindly

Radiant Armor, Athena's Shield, Antique Cuirass, and Blade Armor answer different damage patterns.

5. Charging Unbreakable in open vision

Use brush, terrain, or allied control to hide the line and preserve the taunt angle.

Best Gatotkaca Emblem and Battle Spell

Observed sustain and crowd-control setup

Tank Emblem: Vitality, Festival of Blood, and Concussive Blast. Vitality adds 225 Max HP; Festival of Blood starts with 6% Spell Vamp and can grow through kills or assists; Concussive Blast adds area magic damage to the next Basic Attack. Battle Spell: Revitalize creates a four-second healing spring and increases received healing and shield effects while active.

When: use this route when Gatotkaca is the primary frontline and teammates can fight inside Revitalize. Do not: place the spring before enemies commit or outside the area your back line can hold.

Anti-burst alternative

Vengeance is a practical alternative when Gatotkaca must absorb concentrated damage instead of protecting a stationary teamfight area. A Tank Emblem route with Vitality or defensive talents and Concussive Blast remains appropriate; do not invent a talent that is absent from the setup screen.

The alternative was cross-checked against a current Gatotkaca build reference and a recent Gatotkaca guide, accessed August 9, 2026.

Gatotkaca Counters, Targets, and Teammates

Strong crowd-control partners

Kagura hero iconVale hero iconAngela hero icon

Kagura and Vale can hold or damage enemies around the Ultimate landing, while Angela extends Gatotkaca's dive with shield and control. Signal the landing before leaving their range.

Cleanse and escape threats

Diggie hero iconWanwan hero iconX.Borg hero icon

Diggie can undo the crowd-control chain, Wanwan can escape and cleanse at the right timing, and X.Borg pressures through Gatotkaca's preferred extended range. Bait key answers before committing.

Immobile marksman targets

Layla hero iconPopol and Kupa hero iconOdette hero icon

Layla and Popol and Kupa are vulnerable when caught by the airborne-to-taunt chain; Odette is also punishable when Gatotkaca interrupts her channel from range.

Awkward pairing

Uranus hero icon

Uranus adds another durable frontline but may not provide the immediate control or burst needed to capitalize on Gatotkaca's landing. Pair them only when the remaining draft supplies reliable damage and control.

Gatotkaca FAQ

What is Gatotkaca's best Battle Spell?

Revitalize fits the observed sustain setup and stationary teamfights; Vengeance is the alternative when Gatotkaca must absorb concentrated burst.

Which Gatotkaca skill should I max first?

Prioritize Blast Iron Fist, use Unbreakable as the backup upgrade, and level Avatar of the Guardian whenever available.

How does Gatotkaca Rage work?

Taking damage builds Rage. At 25 or more Rage, the next Basic Attack consumes it for extra magic damage and healing.

Should Gatotkaca use Radiant Armor or Athena's Shield?

Radiant Armor answers repeated magic damage; Athena's Shield is better against a short magic-burst window.

Who counters Gatotkaca?

Diggie and Wanwan can weaken or escape his crowd-control chain, while X.Borg pressures extended frontline fights.

Final Verdict

Gatotkaca succeeds when every defensive choice creates a better control window. Build Rage before the engage, land near allied follow-up, taunt enemies through Blast Iron Fist, and match each resistance item to the damage pattern instead of copying one row unchanged.
