Claude is a Gold Lane Marksman whose damage comes from attack-speed stacks, repeated Attack Effects, and a safe exit prepared before he commits. Dexter adds a second hit to every Basic Attack, while Battle Mirror Image gives Claude a return point after Blazing Duet. The hero feels explosive only when farming, stack timing, and mirror placement all agree.

Quick answer: prioritize Art of Thievery, build around Demon Hunter Sword and Golden Staff, and prepare a mirror before every serious Blazing Duet. Marksman Emblem with Thrill, Festival of Blood, and Quantum Charge supports damage and sustain. Purify is the safest default into control-heavy teams; Aegis gives a larger survival buffer, while Inspire is the greedier damage option.
In-game context: MLBB game version 2.1.88.12027, verified on August 14, 2026. Skills, level-one stats, five complete six-item builds, talents, and skin availability use that in-game state.

Claude Skills and Attack-Effect Plan

Battle Side-by-side skill icon

Battle Side-by-side

Dexter assists each of Claude's Basic Attacks, dealing 25 (+25% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage to the same target and inheriting a portion of Attack Effects.

Use: Treat every clean Basic Attack as two linked hits, which is why on-hit equipment scales so well. Avoid: Do not stand still to force one more attack when an enemy engage is already in range.

Art of Thievery

Claude deals 250 (+40% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage in a fan, reduces enemy Movement and Attack Speed, and gains Movement and Attack Speed for each target hit, with double value from heroes and up to five stacks.

Use: Clip both the wave and an enemy hero before trading or entering a fight so Claude arrives with speed already built. Avoid: Do not open a major fight with zero stacks if a safe minion or jungle target can prepare them first.

Battle Mirror Image skill icon

Battle Mirror Image

Claude places Dexter's mirror image for 5.5 seconds. It attacks nearby enemies, applies a portion of Claude's Attack Effects, and lets Claude switch places with it on the second cast.

Use: Place the mirror behind safe terrain or outside the enemy's first control zone, then enter only when the return point remains usable. Avoid: Do not leave the mirror where the enemy can camp the exact exit or where its timer will expire during Blazing Duet.

Blazing Duet

Claude and Dexter fire rapidly for three seconds at up to two nearby enemies per shot. The shots count as Basic Attack Damage, benefit from Attack Effects, and grant Claude a shield whenever they damage an enemy.

Use: Stack Art of Thievery, place a safe mirror, enter after key control is spent, then swap out when the channel has delivered its value. Avoid: Do not channel into suppression, airborne control, or an enemy formation that can burst through the shield before the exit.

Skill Priority and Claude Combos

Take Art of Thievery at level one and prioritize it, level Battle Mirror Image second, and upgrade Blazing Duet whenever available. Skill 1 improves Claude's lane control and lets him enter later fights with the speed that keeps both damage and escape reliable.

Teamfight entry

Claude teamfight combo step 1Claude teamfight combo step 2Claude teamfight combo step 3

Art of Thievery → Battle Mirror Image → Blazing Duet. Hit several targets with Skill 1, place the mirror outside the enemy's first control zone, then enter only after the main interrupt is spent. Recast Skill 2 to leave instead of walking through the enemy team.

Lane finish

Claude lane combo step 1Claude lane combo step 2Claude lane combo step 3Claude lane combo step 4

Art of Thievery → Basic Attack → Battle Mirror Image → Blazing Duet. Start the trade with speed and a slow, take the clean Basic Attack, and use the mirror only when the target is low enough that the Ultimate creates a real finish.

How to Play Claude by Game Phase

Early game

Protect Gold Lane farm and use Art of Thievery through the wave whenever it can also touch the opposing laner. Claude's first real jump in threat arrives with the on-hit core, so losing waves for low-percentage fights delays everything that makes him dangerous.

Mid game

Keep a mirror behind a wall or in allied space before joining an objective fight. Stack Skill 1 on the nearest safe targets, wait for control to be used, then enter from an angle that gives Blazing Duet two valuable targets instead of the whole enemy team.

Late game

Basic Attack from the range granted by Malefic Gun and treat the Ultimate as a timed punish, not an automatic opener. Wind of Nature can answer Physical burst during a close entry, but Magic and True Damage still require position and timing.

Five Common Claude Mistakes

  1. Entering with no Art of Thievery stacks.
  2. Placing the mirror inside the same control zone as the Ultimate.
  3. Forcing Blazing Duet before the enemy uses its main interrupt.
  4. Leaving Gold Lane farm for a fight that has no objective or safe exit.
  5. Buying only damage when Purify, Wind of Nature, or a defensive boot is required to finish the channel.

Best Emblem and Battle Spell

Marksman Emblem is the direct fit for Claude's Basic Attack and Attack Effect plan. Thrill adds Adaptive Attack, Festival of Blood adds spell-vamp scaling, and Quantum Charge rewards Basic Attack contact with healing and a brief burst of Movement Speed. These talents match the current in-game row collected for this guide.

Purify is the safest general Battle Spell when crowd control would cancel Claude's entry or prevent the mirror return. Aegis is useful when damage, rather than control, breaks the channel. Inspire is the aggressive alternative for a team that already protects Claude and lets him keep attacking.

Five Current Claude Builds

All five routes contain exactly six items and share the same on-hit structure: Attack Speed, Demon Hunter Sword, Golden Staff, and Corrosion Scythe. The decisions are the boot, the timing of Malefic Gun, and whether the final safety slot is Rose Gold Meteor or Wind of Nature.

Equipment Guide

Use the item notes below to decide what each slot contributes. The table describes each item independently of the numbered builds.

ItemWhat it addsWhen to consider it
Warrior BootsWarrior Boots
Movement Speed and Physical Defense; repeated Physical Damage temporarily adds more Physical Defense.Choose into sustained Physical Damage; switch when Magic burst or crowd control is the real threat.
Corrosion ScytheCorrosion Scythe
Physical Attack, Attack Speed, Movement Speed, stacking Basic Attack slows, and more Attack Speed as attacks connect.Buy early when sticking to targets and accelerating the on-hit engine matters most.
Demon Hunter SwordDemon Hunter Sword
Physical Attack and Attack Speed; Basic Attacks add current-HP Physical Damage and recover HP.Prioritize against high-HP frontliners and whenever Claude needs his first reliable on-hit power spike.
Golden StaffGolden Staff
Physical Attack and Attack Speed; converts extra Crit Chance into Attack Speed and makes the third non-critical attack trigger Attack Effects additional times.Complete after an on-hit core to multiply Attack Effect triggers; do not detour into a crit plan around it.
Malefic GunMalefic Gun
Physical Attack, Attack Speed, Physical Penetration, longer Basic Attack range, and a short Movement Speed gain after hitting.Move earlier when armor and short Basic Attack range stop safe damage; delay if survival is the immediate problem.
Rose Gold MeteorRose Gold Meteor
Physical Attack, Attack Speed, Lifesteal, scaling Hybrid Defense, and a low-HP shield with decaying Movement Speed.Keep when mixed damage and a low-HP escape window matter; replace with a more direct answer when one damage type dominates.
WindtalkerWindtalker
Attack Speed, Crit Chance, Movement Speed, and periodic multi-target Magic Damage on a Basic Attack.Use for faster waves, rotations, and multi-target pressure; skip if a defensive slot is required.
Tough BootsTough Boots
Movement Speed and Magic Defense, plus shorter crowd-control and slow duration.Choose when Magic Damage and reducible crowd control block Claude's entry or exit.
Wind of NatureWind of Nature
Physical Attack, Attack Speed, Lifesteal, and a two-second active immunity to Physical Damage for Marksmen.Buy against decisive Physical burst and activate before the damage lands; it does not answer Magic or True Damage.
Rapid BootsRapid Boots
The highest travel speed here, Slow Reduction, and HP regeneration for quick rotations.Choose for map tempo and slow resistance only when neither defensive boot is required.

Best Teammates and Matchups

Team support

Angela hero iconFaramis hero iconHarith hero icon

Angela can add protection during a deep channel, while Faramis makes a committed area fight less punishing. Harith brings mobile pressure that can split attention while Claude prepares his angle.

Targets with limited lockdown

Vexana hero iconFloryn hero icon

Claude can use the mirror to dodge predictable pressure and reach fragile backliners, but he still needs vision and a valid return point before committing.

Hard-control threats

Eudora hero iconFranco hero iconLesley hero icon

Eudora punishes a visible entry with fast control and burst. Franco's suppression is not removed by Purify, so Claude must wait for it or attack from range. Lesley can pressure from outside a careless Ultimate angle.

Claude Story

Claude grew up as an orphan in the lawless city of Los Pecados and survived by becoming an exceptional thief. Waldo Kane used Claude's street gang and later had him imprisoned, where the legendary thief Merlin became his mentor. After escaping and keeping a promise to leave his mark across the Land of Dawn, Claude returned with Dexter, stole Dr. Rooney's holographic mirror device, and set out to make Kane answer for the city's suffering.

Claude FAQ

What should Claude upgrade first?

Take and prioritize Art of Thievery, level Battle Mirror Image second, and upgrade Blazing Duet whenever available.

What is Claude's core build?

Demon Hunter Sword, Golden Staff, and Corrosion Scythe form the main Attack Effect engine. Add the boot, range, penetration, and defensive answer that fit the enemy team.

When should Claude use Blazing Duet?

After building Art of Thievery stacks, preparing a safe mirror, and seeing the enemy spend the control that can stop or punish the channel.

Is Purify or Aegis better?

Purify is better against removable crowd control. Aegis is better when raw damage is the main danger and Claude can still recast his mirror.

Why is Golden Staff important?

It converts extra Crit Chance into Attack Speed and makes a later non-critical Basic Attack trigger Attack Effects additional times, amplifying Claude and Dexter's on-hit pattern.

Final Verdict

Claude rewards preparation more than panic speed. Farm the on-hit core, stack Art of Thievery before contact, place the return mirror first, and make Blazing Duet the punish for spent control rather than the opening the enemy is waiting for.
