Zilong is a chase-focused Fighter/Assassin who wins by choosing the right entry, flipping one target away from safety, and extending the fight through fast Basic Attacks. His current English-client kit rewards patience: Spear Strike lowers Physical Defense, Spear Flip changes the target's position, and Supreme Warrior gives the speed needed to reach a back-line carry or escape a bad collapse.

Quick Answer: How Should You Play Zilong?

Farm cleanly, enter from a side angle, and commit only after dangerous crowd control is visible. Take Spear Strike at level 1 and prioritize it. In lane, use Spear Strike → Spear Flip → Basic Attacks; in a teamfight, activate Supreme Warrior first, then Spear Strike → Spear Flip → Basic Attacks. Assassin Emblem with Rupture, Master Assassin, and Lethal Ignition supports isolated kills; Inspire is the default spell, while Purify is the safety choice into several reliable hard-control threats.

  • Pick Zilong when: the enemy back line is reachable and your team can hold the front while you flank.
  • Be careful when: Franco, Nana, or another hard-control hero can stop your dash.
  • Core discipline: slow immunity is not control immunity—wait before diving.
Client build and verification: English client package version 2.1.88.12027 (queue label 2.1.88.1202.1). Gameplay, Pro Setups, equipment tooltips, skins, and base stats for this guide were captured and last verified on July 29, 2026. Balance values, shop offers, Emblem details, and Pro Setup rankings can change after this date.

Zilong Skills: Mechanics and Decisions

Dragon Flurry skill iconDragon Flurry

Passive. After three damage instances from attacks or skills, Zilong's next Basic Attack strikes three times. Each hit deals 80 (+30% Total Physical Attack) Basic Attack Damage and heals 50 (+20% Total Physical Attack) HP. His normal Basic Attack is 100 (+80% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage, and all his damage rises by 30% against targets below half HP.

Dragon Flurry in-game demonstration
Dragon Flurry demonstration captured from the English client on July 29, 2026.
Use it when

The third-hit counter is ready and the enemy is close to half HP.

Why it works

The triple strike compresses damage and sustain into one attack, then the low-HP bonus helps finish.

Do not

Do not enter a duel with an empty counter if you can charge it safely on the wave first.

Spear Flip skill iconSpear Flip

Skill 1 · 12.0s cooldown; 80 mana at level 1. Spear Flip throws the target behind Zilong for 250 (+80% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage at level 1. Base damage scales to 350 and the cooldown falls to 9.5 seconds at max rank.

Spear Flip in-game demonstration
Spear Flip demonstration captured from the English client on July 29, 2026.
Use it when

Use it after Spear Strike reaches the target, especially when you can flip them away from safety.

Why it works

The displacement breaks their retreat path and places Zilong on the correct side for follow-up attacks.

Do not

Do not flip a durable front liner into your back line or move a target out of an ally's aimed skill.

Spear Strike skill iconSpear Strike

Skill 2 · 12.0s cooldown. Spear Strike lunges to the target for 250 (+60% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage and reduces Physical Defense by 15 for two seconds at level 1. Damage reaches 450, defense reduction reaches 30, and cooldown falls to 9 seconds at max rank. A kill resets the cooldown.

Spear Strike in-game demonstration
Spear Strike demonstration captured from the English client on July 29, 2026.
Use it when

Dash once the escape tool or hard control you fear has been used, or use a minion kill to chain the reset.

Why it works

The defense reduction amplifies the attacks that follow, while kill resets let Zilong continue a chase or exit through another target.

Do not

Do not dash first into five enemies just because the target is selectable; Supreme Warrior does not stop hard control.

Supreme Warrior skill iconSupreme Warrior

Ultimate · 35.0s cooldown; 120 mana at level 1. Supreme Warrior removes slows and grants 40% Movement Speed, 35% Attack Speed, and slow immunity for 7.5 seconds at level 1. Attack Speed reaches 55% at level 3, and Dragon Flurry triggers every two attacks during the buff.

Supreme Warrior in-game demonstration
Supreme Warrior demonstration captured from the English client on July 29, 2026.
Use it when

Activate it before the commitment so its speed secures the angle and its attack-speed window covers the full duel.

Why it works

It cleanses slows, shortens the passive cycle, and lets Zilong reach or leave fights faster.

Do not

Do not treat slow immunity as control immunity; stuns, suppression, airborne effects, and transformations can still stop you.

Skill Priority and Zilong Combos

Skill upgrade priority

Take Spear Strike at level 1, prioritize Spear Strike, keep Spear Flip as the secondary upgrade, and level Supreme Warrior whenever it is available. This order improves the defense-reduction dash that starts almost every reliable trade and lowers its cooldown for resets.

Teamfight combo

Supreme Warrior iconSupreme WarriorSpear Strike iconSpear StrikeSpear Flip iconSpear FlipBasic Attacks iconBasic Attacks

When: approach from fog after the enemy's hardest control is committed. Why: the Ultimate gives the speed to reach the target, Spear Strike lowers defense, and Spear Flip moves the carry away from cover. Do not: activate Supreme Warrior in full vision and run through the tank line.

Laning combo

Spear Strike iconSpear StrikeSpear Flip iconSpear FlipBasic Attacks iconBasic Attacks

When: the enemy oversteps or spends their escape. Why: the dash applies the defense reduction before the displacement and attack chain. Do not: flip the target toward their turret or out of your minion advantage.

How to Play Zilong by Game Phase

Early game

Last-hit without draining mana on empty trades. Charge Dragon Flurry before a short exchange, then use Spear Strike only when the target cannot immediately punish the dash. Freeze near your turret when a flip can place the opponent behind you.

Mid game

Push a safe side wave, leave vision, and make the enemy marksman respect the flank. Join Turtle or Lord through an outer route instead of walking down the middle. If the map is dark, keep Supreme Warrior available as an exit.

Late game

A bad entry can end the match. Track Franco's suppression, Nana's control, and other instant stops before touching Spear Strike. When no flank is safe, peel the diver with Spear Flip and threaten the next reset instead of forcing a hero play.

Five Zilong Mistakes That Lose Winnable Fights

  1. Confusing slow immunity with control immunity. Supreme Warrior removes slows, but hard control still stops the dive.
  2. Dashing before checking the target's escape. Wait for the movement skill or use a side angle that shortens the chase.
  3. Flipping the enemy toward safety. Position so Spear Flip throws the target toward allies or away from the turret.
  4. Copying a snowball build from behind. Sky Piercer loses value when deaths erase stacks; choose stable damage or survival instead.
  5. Grouping on every wave. Zilong needs side-lane income and flank pressure, but he must leave before missing enemies collapse.

Best Zilong Emblem and Battle Spell

Source note (July 29, 2026): Role Emblem talent details were not fully readable on the capture account. The Emblem and Battle Spell defaults below combine visible Battle Setup evidence with dated ONE Esports and MLBB Wiki references. Re-check in-game talent text after patches.

Default: Assassin Emblem + Inspire

Talents: Rupture, Master Assassin, Lethal Ignition.

When: you can isolate a carry or side laner and keep attacking. Why: penetration, isolated-target damage, and follow-up burn reinforce Zilong's defense-reduction burst, while Inspire accelerates his passive cycle and sustain. Do not: use Inspire before you are in attack range or when hard control will waste the duration.

Safety option: Assassin Emblem + Purify

Keep the same damage talents but take Purify when the enemy draft has at least three dependable hard-control tools and one cleanse can preserve the decisive entry. Do not: expect Purify to remove suppression; avoid the suppressor or wait for that Ultimate to be spent.

The dated recommendation check used ONE Esports' Zilong guide and the MLBB Wiki pages for Emblems and Battle Spells, accessed July 29, 2026.

Zilong Matchups and Team Synergy

Matchup notes below follow the official Mobile Legends relationship categories for Zilong, then add a short play action. Draft outcomes still depend on gold, timing, and execution.

Official categoryHeroesWhat the official profile says / why it mattersPlay action
Zilong counters
Layla hero iconLylia hero iconLayla, Lylia
Official profile: Ultimate slow immunity makes Zilong strong against squishy heroes without reliable hard CC, such as Layla and Lylia.Flank after their escape tools are spent; do not run the open mid-line in full vision.
Countered by
Franco hero iconNana hero iconFranco, Nana
Official profile: Zilong remains vulnerable to non-slow CC, so he is weak against powerful single-target control such as Franco and Nana.Track the key control cooldown; do not dash while that hero is unseen.
Compatibility
Pharsa hero iconHanabi hero iconPharsa, Hanabi
Official profile: Zilong works best with heroes who can hold off enemies while he solos a side lane, such as Pharsa and Hanabi.Take the free side pressure when they can defend the main wave; do not abandon objectives for a free farm lane.
Best teammate
Gloo hero iconGloo
Official relationship list marks Gloo as Zilong's best teammate signal. A sticky frontline that soaks attention creates a cleaner flank path for Spear Strike → Spear Flip.Enter when Gloo has already drawn focus; do not arrive before the frontline starts.
Best counter to Zilong
X.Borg hero iconX.Borg
Official relationship list marks X.Borg as a best-counter signal into Zilong. Sustained armor-break pressure punishes long Basic Attack trades before Zilong finishes the passive cycle.Keep trades short or rotate; do not stand still to finish a full passive stack in his firerange.
Most countered by
Popol and Kupa hero iconPopol and Kupa
Official relationship list marks Popol and Kupa as the hero that most counters Zilong. The duo adds an extra body, path control, and repeated disruption that punishes a straight dash-and-flip line.Clear or bait the path tools first; do not take the obvious brush approach into both units.
Not compatible
Cici hero iconCici
Official relationship list marks Cici as not compatible with Zilong. Both want extended side space and can leave the map without enough lockdown for a clean entry.Split lane jobs clearly and sync engages; do not double-stack side pressure while the objective is free.

Zilong Story

Taken in by the Tianyin Swordmaster Sect as a child, Zilong chose the spear over the Sect's famous sword tradition. He later trained under the Great Dragon alongside Baxia, inherited the Cloud Dragon's power, and received the Great Dragon Spear. His story resolves around a simple duty: saving one person and protecting the Cadia Riverlands are part of the same promise.

Zilong FAQ

What is Zilong's best combo?

In a teamfight, use Supreme Warrior → Spear Strike → Spear Flip → Basic Attacks. In lane, start with Spear Strike, flip the target away from safety, then continue attacking to trigger Dragon Flurry.

Which Zilong skill should I level first?

Take Spear Strike at level 1 and prioritize it, use Spear Flip as the secondary upgrade, and level Supreme Warrior whenever available.

Is Inspire or Purify better for Zilong?

Inspire is the default when you can attack continuously. Purify is the safer option into several reliable hard-control skills, but it cannot remove suppression.

Can Supreme Warrior remove every crowd-control effect?

No. It removes slows and grants slow immunity, but stuns, suppression, airborne control, and transformations can still stop Zilong.

Should Zilong always build Sky Piercer?

No. It fits a protected snowball because kills add stacks and deaths remove part of them. From behind, stable Crit, attack speed, lifesteal, anti-heal, or survival is usually more dependable.

Are the listed skin prices permanent?

No. The table records what the English client displayed on July 29, 2026. Direct prices, event access, and rotation labels can change.

Verdict: Is Zilong Worth Learning?

Yes, if you enjoy side-lane pressure, flanks, and high-commitment target selection. Zilong is easy to understand but unforgiving when he enters before enemy control is spent. Learn the defense-reduction dash, practice flipping enemies away from safety, and adjust the Pro Setup core for sustain, anti-heal, or snowball risk. When the back line is unreachable, keep farming and pressure the map instead of donating a heroic-looking dive.
