Nangong Yu is an S-Rank Ether Stun Agent from the Angels of Delusion, but treating her like a traditional Impact-only stunner misses the point of her kit. She converts Anomaly Mastery into Impact, applies Anomaly buildup while rapidly filling the Daze gauge, extends the Stun window, and adds Abloom and Polarity Disorder damage during the team’s burst phase. Her best teams are built around Anomaly damage dealers who can keep enemies affected by an Attribute Anomaly while Nangong Yu creates the Stun window.
The main execution rule is simple: build Downbeats between Stuns, use her charged Basic Attack to activate her buffs and apply Misstep, then use Dance Prowess and her free EX Special during Stun.
Nangong Yu is best described as an Anomaly-focused Stun support with meaningful personal damage. She does not need to remain on field for long periods. Instead, she enters to use a charged Basic Attack, an EX Special, a Quick Assist, or her Ultimate, then returns to the teammate who is responsible for the main Anomaly damage.
Her value comes from fast Daze application, Anomaly support, stronger Stun windows through Misstep, and extra burst damage through Vibrato, Abloom, and Polarity Disorder. The main trade-off is that her Anomaly buildup can sometimes interfere with a team’s intended Disorder timing. In an Angels of Delusion team this is usually manageable; in a Miyabi or other Disorder-heavy team, save her EX Special for the moment that best preserves the main damage dealer’s Anomaly cycle.

Nangong Yu starts combat with 30 Downbeats and can store up to 100. She regenerates 3.8 Downbeats per second, and any squad member triggering an Attribute Anomaly restores another 12 Downbeats, with a six-second cooldown.
Hold the Basic Attack button to use Adorable Explosive Impact. The first hit is available immediately. The second and third hits each consume 50 Downbeats, so a full three-hit sequence requires enough resource to pay for both follow-up hits.
Release when Nangong Yu’s morning-star weapons flash to trigger Precise Charging, which increases the Daze dealt by 20%. EX Special, Chain Attack, and Ultimate can shortcut into later hits with Precise Charging guaranteed.
At maximum Core Passive level, Nangong Yu gains 120 Anomaly Proficiency. Every point of her initial Anomaly Mastery above 110 grants one point of Impact, so Anomaly Mastery improves both her Anomaly contribution and her ability to Stun.
When a charged Adorable Explosive Impact or EX Special hits an enemy, she gains 35% Anomaly Buildup Rate and 20% Daze dealt, while the squad gains 25% DMG for 30 seconds at maximum Core Passive level.
When her Additional Ability is active, the third hit of Adorable Explosive Impact or her Ultimate applies Misstep. Misstep increases the target’s Stun DMG Multiplier by 30% and extends the target’s Stun duration by three seconds.
Try to complete the third charged hit before the enemy enters Stun, unless the fight is about to end or the extra Daze is needed immediately.
While an enemy is Stunned, Abloom damage, Disorder damage, and new Attribute Anomalies add Vibrato stacks, up to four. When Vibrato reaches four stacks, or when the enemy recovers from Stun, the stacks are cleared and Nangong Yu triggers an Abloom attack if the enemy still has an Attribute Anomaly. Each stack increases the Abloom damage ratio.
When the team Stuns an enemy, Nangong Yu gains two Dance Prowess stacks that last 15 seconds. Her charged Basic Attack, EX Special, or Quick Assist can consume one stack against an enemy that is both Stunned and affected by an Attribute Anomaly. The result is Polarity Disorder for 25% of the original Disorder damage, followed by a reverse Quick Assist.
Meteor Shower has extremely high Daze output and can apply Misstep. Its final hit also activates Ether Veil: Delusion Reprise, increasing the squad’s ATK by 50 for 30 seconds.
| Slot | Recommended main stat | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Disc 4 | Anomaly Proficiency | Improves her Anomaly contribution and personal damage. |
| Disc 5 | Ether DMG% / ATK% / PEN Ratio | Ether DMG% is the safest general damage option; choose based on substats and team buffs. |
| Disc 6 | Anomaly Mastery | Converts into Impact through her Core Passive and supports faster Anomaly buildup. |
Prioritize Anomaly Proficiency, ATK%, PEN Ratio, and ATK in the substats. Do not force an Impact Disc 6 just because Nangong Yu is a Stun Agent; Anomaly Mastery is usually more valuable.
Phaethon’s MelodyUse four pieces of Phaethon’s Melody when Nangong Yu contributes a large share of the team’s damage, especially in the Angels of Delusion team.
Freedom BluesUse four pieces of Freedom Blues when the team depends on frequent Anomaly cycling, particularly with Miyabi or another DPS whose damage requires repeated Disorders.
Neon Fantasies: Nangong Yu’s signature and best overall option.Upgrade
Core Passive first. Then prioritize
Basic Attack and
EX Special Attack, followed by Ultimate, Assist, and finally Dodge.
Aria +
Nangong Yu +
SunnaThis is the most natural premium team. Aria and Sunna provide the faction interactions that make Nangong Yu’s coordinated attacks and Dance Prowess easier to use. Nangong Yu handles the Stun window while Aria and Sunna fill the target’s Anomaly state.
Miyabi +
YuzuhaNangong Yu gives Miyabi a faster and longer Stun window while helping maintain the Anomaly conditions needed for Disorder and Fallen Frost generation. Use her EX Special when the target’s Anomaly gauge and Disorder timing make the next Miyabi burst stronger.
Anomaly DPS + Nangong Yu can support many Anomaly agents, including Alice, Jane, Piper, Grace, Burnice, and Yanagi. Yuzuha is the default support when available; Sunna, Nicole, Rina, or another support can fill the slot according to the team’s element and Additional Ability requirements.
For a limited budget, use M0 first, then consider the signature W-Engine, followed by M1 or M2 according to whether you value resistance shred and comfort or stronger Stun-window damage.
Zenless Zone Zero Top Up
If you are budgeting for Nangong Yu’s W-Engine or Mindscapes, confirm your UID, server, and Monochrome plan before spending.
She is officially an Ether Stun Agent, but her Core Passive and Anomaly-focused buffs make her a hybrid Stun support and sub-DPS for Anomaly teams.
Phaethon’s Melody is the general damage recommendation. Freedom Blues is better when the team needs faster Anomaly buildup and more reliable Disorder cycling.
No. M0 Nangong Yu works without it, and The Simmering Pot or Precious Fossilized Core can cover F2P needs. Neon Fantasies remains the strongest upgrade.
Aria and Sunna form her most complete Angels of Delusion team. Outside that group, Miyabi, Alice, Jane, Piper, Grace, Burnice, and other Anomaly DPS characters can benefit from her longer Stun windows.
Build Downbeats, land a precise charged Basic Attack, apply Misstep, Stun the enemy, spend Dance Prowess and the free EX Special during Stun, then return to the main DPS.
Nangong Yu is one of the most specialized Stun agents for Anomaly teams because she improves the part of the fight where Anomaly damage is usually most concentrated: the Stun window. Build Anomaly stats first, learn Precise Charging, and plan her Downbeats around Misstep rather than pressing every skill on cooldown. Her basic kit is complete at M0; if you invest further, the signature W-Engine is the clearest general upgrade.
