Choose between Lightbearing Moonshard, Harbinger of Dawn, Flute of Ezpitzal, and Zibai's strongest 5-star alternatives.

Reviewed September 3, 2026 · Recommendations are based on post-release mechanics and may change with future weapons or teammates.

Zibai's best weapon is Lightbearing Moonshard, her signature 5-star Sword. It supplies CRIT DMG, DEF, and a direct bonus to Lunar-Crystallize damage after she uses her Elemental Skill. You do not need it to make her work, though. Harbinger of Dawn is the strongest low-cost option when its above-90% HP passive stays active, while Flute of Ezpitzal is the safer craftable choice when you cannot protect that passive. Players who already own Uraku Misugiri also have an excellent alternative and usually do not need to pull a weapon only for Zibai.

Quick answer: Use Lightbearing Moonshard for the highest ceiling. Use Harbinger of Dawn if a shield or reliable sustain keeps Zibai above 90% HP. Craft Flute of Ezpitzal if you want consistent performance without an HP condition. Cinnabar Spindle is usable for old accounts that own it, but it is not her default best F2P recommendation.

Which Zibai Weapon Should You Use?

Start with the weapon you already own, then check whether its condition survives real combat. This order avoids spending Primogems to solve a problem that a shield, a craftable weapon, or better artifact balance may already solve.

Already own Uraku Misugiri?Equip it unless another character needs it more. It is strong enough that Lightbearing Moonshard is usually a luxury rather than a repair.
Can Zibai stay above 90% HP?Use R5 Harbinger of Dawn when a dependable shield or careful play keeps its CRIT Rate passive active.
Need consistency without an HP check?Craft Flute of Ezpitzal. It trades the highest budget ceiling for stable DEF in bosses, multi-wave fights, and chip-damage content.
Team complete and investing vertically?Consider R1 Lightbearing Moonshard after comparing it with Zibai's next Constellation and the value of banner four-star copies.

Why Zibai Wants DEF and CRIT Instead of ATK

Zibai is a 5-star Geo Sword character whose on-field damage revolves around Lunar Phase Shift and Lunar-Crystallize. Her empowered Normal Attacks and special Skill scale primarily with DEF, while her direct Lunar-Crystallize damage can also benefit from Elemental Mastery, Lunar Reaction bonuses, CRIT, and enemy Geo RES reduction. That is why a weapon's Base ATK matters less to her than it would to a conventional ATK-scaling carry.

This distinction also explains why a low-rarity weapon can compete with premium choices. Harbinger of Dawn gives valuable CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG when its passive is active. Conversely, a weapon with high Base ATK but no DEF, CRIT, or relevant reaction value may look impressive on the inventory screen while doing little for Zibai's real damage pattern.

Lightbearing Moonshard: Zibai's Signature Weapon

At Level 90, Lightbearing Moonshard has 542 Base ATK and 88.2% CRIT DMG. At Refinement 1, its passive increases DEF by 20%. After the wielder uses an Elemental Skill, Lunar-Crystallize damage is increased by 64% for five seconds. Zibai naturally uses her Skill to enter Lunar Phase Shift and continues using special Skill activations during her field time, so the weapon's trigger and damage window fit her intended rotation.

The signature is not merely a general stat stick: all three of its important benefits serve her build. That gives it the clearest advantage over weapons whose passive only buffs regular Skill or Normal Attack damage. It is still a luxury. A player with Uraku Misugiri or a well-supported Harbinger of Dawn build can already field a strong Zibai without committing to a limited weapon banner.

R225%80% for 5 seconds
R330%96% for 5 seconds
R435%112% for 5 seconds
R540%128% for 5 seconds

These values describe the weapon passive, not a promise that Zibai's total damage rises by the same percentage. Total output also depends on her CRIT ratio, DEF, team buffs, enemy resistance, reaction uptime, and which attacks make up the rotation. For most players, R1 is the sensible stopping point; additional copies are high-cost luxury upgrades.

How to keep the five-second weapon effect active

Zibai's standard C0 field sequence is commonly written as E 4[N4E]: enter Lunar Phase Shift with her Skill, complete the fourth Normal Attack, then use the converted special Skill, repeating until all four special Skill charges are spent. Each special Skill use refreshes Lightbearing Moonshard's five-second effect, so the weapon rewards the same N4-to-Skill rhythm that her kit already encourages.

1 · Setup off-field effectsApply Hydro and activate Geo, Moonsign, shield, or support buffs before Zibai takes the field.
2 · Press Zibai's SkillEnter Lunar Phase Shift and start the weapon's five-second Lunar-Crystallize bonus.
3 · Complete N4, then special SkillThe N4 and special Skill contain important Lunar-Crystallize hits; the special Skill refreshes the weapon window.
4 · Repeat for four chargesUse the Burst when available during field time; swapping out ends Lunar Phase Shift, so finish Zibai's sequence first.
Do not shorten the combo by default: Rapidly spending special Skill charges can fit a short enemy vulnerability window, but skipping N4 repeatedly sacrifices important damage. Treat shortened sequences as a situational finisher, not the normal recommendation.

Should you choose C1 or R1?

There is no one-line answer for every account. KQM's post-release guidance favors Zibai's early Constellations before her signature during vertical investment when obtaining Illuga Constellations is also part of the banner plan. If Illuga Constellations are not a consideration and your best available weapon is only Flute of Ezpitzal—or Harbinger of Dawn in a team that cannot comfortably protect its passive—Lightbearing Moonshard becomes a more attractive upgrade. In practice, settle the team first, then compare the guaranteed improvement you receive from the weapon against the value of the next Constellation.

Best 5-Star Alternatives to Lightbearing Moonshard

Uraku Misugiri

Uraku Misugiri is the most complete non-signature option. At Level 90 it has 542 Base ATK and 88.2% CRIT DMG. At R1 it increases Normal Attack damage by 16%, Elemental Skill damage by 24%, and DEF by 20%; the Normal Attack and Skill bonuses are doubled for 15 seconds after a nearby active character deals Geo damage. A Zibai team activates the Geo condition naturally. However, her direct Lunar-Crystallize damage does not treat every ordinary DMG Bonus as a full multiplier, so the weapon is valuable mainly because of its CRIT, DEF, and partial coverage—not because every line applies equally.

Peak Patrol Song

Peak Patrol Song trades CRIT for a large 82.7% DEF secondary stat at Level 90. Its passive adds more DEF after Normal or Plunging Attacks and can provide an Elemental DMG Bonus to the team. This makes it comfortable when Zibai's artifacts already have enough CRIT, but the team buff is less transformative in a composition where much of the damage is Lunar-Crystallize. Treat it as a strong weapon you can reuse, not a substitute signature worth chasing specifically for Zibai.

Light of Foliar Incision and Splendor of Tranquil Waters

Light of Foliar Incision offers 88.2% CRIT DMG and 4% CRIT Rate at R1, making artifact balancing easier. Zibai can trigger part of its passive through her regular Geo-infused hits, although it remains an EM-linked weapon designed for a different carry. Splendor of Tranquil Waters is a weaker fallback: its CRIT DMG is useful, but Zibai cannot activate all of its passive by herself, and its ordinary Skill DMG increase does not fully serve direct Lunar-Crystallize. Use either only when it is already in your inventory and not needed by a better owner.

Best F2P Weapon: Harbinger or Flute?

Harbinger of Dawn

Harbinger of Dawn is the aggressive budget choice. At Level 90 it has 401 Base ATK and 46.9% CRIT DMG. Its low Base ATK is unusually easy for Zibai to accept because her important damage scales with DEF. At Refinement 5, it adds 28% CRIT Rate while Zibai remains above 90% HP. If that threshold drops during the main damage window, the comparison changes immediately.

Use it with a shield or a team whose sustain is reliable enough for the content you are playing. A Zhongli team is the clearest comfort example. Healing can restore the passive, but healing after Zibai has already taken damage does not prevent the temporary loss of CRIT Rate.

Flute of Ezpitzal

Flute of Ezpitzal is the practical craftable recommendation. At Level 90 it provides 454 Base ATK and 69.0% DEF. After an Elemental Skill, its passive raises DEF for 15 seconds—16% at R1 and 32% at R5. Zibai activates it naturally at the start of her field time, and it works without asking the player to preserve a high-HP condition. Its theoretical peak is lower, but its real performance is stable across bosses, multi-wave combat, chip damage, and accounts without premium sustain. If you are unsure whether Harbinger's passive will remain active, Flute is the safer answer.

Forging one copy requires a Borderland Sword Billet, 50 Condessence Crystals, 50 White Iron Chunks, and 500 Mora. Refining it to R5 requires additional copies, so do not consume billets automatically if another craftable weapon is more important to your account.

You already own R5 Cinnabar SpindleUse it while buildingIt is functional, but do not assume it automatically beats Flute for Zibai.

How the Team Changes Your Weapon Choice

Zibai needs reliable Hydro application and the correct Moonsign setup to trigger Lunar-Crystallize and reach Ascendant Gleam. She also benefits from Geo Resonance. Weapon advice that ignores the team can therefore be misleading: the best paper option may perform worse if its passive or the reaction loop is unstable.

Team shellWhat it solvesWeapon implication
Zibai · Illuga · Linnea · ColumbinaPremium Lunar-Crystallize support, healing, buffs, and sustained application.Signature and CRIT options are easy to build around; monitor Harbinger's HP condition in dangerous content.
Zibai · Illuga · Zhongli · ColumbinaShield comfort, Geo Resonance, Hydro application, and Illuga's dedicated buffs.A strong home for Harbinger of Dawn because Zhongli helps preserve the passive.
Zibai · Illuga · Gorou · Aino or YelanMore accessible Geo/Hydro core with consistent Lunar-Crystallize access.Flute offers the simplest consistency; Harbinger depends on the flex and player execution.

Illuga is a teammate, not a shield weapon. His own weapon choices—such as Dragon's Bane or Favonius Lance—should never be placed in Zibai's weapon table.

Efficient preparation: Spend Resin on Aerosiderite first because its domain is scheduled. Farm Wilderness Exiles or Hunters and Landcruisers between domain days, then craft lower-tier drops only after checking the final shortage. The exact leveling-Mora cost can vary slightly with the mix of fodder and ore used, so treat 1.13 million as a preparation target rather than a checkout-style exact total.

Common Zibai Weapon Mistakes

  • Choosing by Base ATK alone. Zibai's DEF scaling changes the usual weapon priorities.
  • Calling every Skill bonus fully effective. Direct Lunar-Crystallize damage does not receive every generic DMG bonus in the same way as ordinary Skill damage.
  • Ranking Harbinger without its HP condition. Its recommendation assumes the passive has useful uptime.
  • Calling Cinnabar Spindle universally F2P. It was an event-limited reward and cannot be obtained by every current player.
  • Putting teammate weapons on Zibai. Favonius Lance belongs to Polearm users such as Illuga, not to Zibai.

Zibai Weapon FAQ

What is Zibai's best weapon?

Lightbearing Moonshard is her best overall weapon because it combines CRIT DMG, DEF, and Lunar-Crystallize damage. It is a luxury upgrade rather than a requirement.

What is Zibai's best F2P weapon?

Harbinger of Dawn has the highest low-cost ceiling when Zibai stays above 90% HP. Flute of Ezpitzal is the better stable craftable choice when you cannot maintain that condition.

Is Cinnabar Spindle better than Flute of Ezpitzal?

Not by default. Cinnabar provides useful DEF, but only a limited part of Zibai's output benefits from its common Skill DMG effect. Flute is the more accessible and generally recommended 4-star option.

Can Zibai use Favonius Lance or The Catch?

No. Zibai is a Sword character. Both are Polearms. Favonius Lance may appear in Zibai team guides because it can be equipped by Illuga or another Polearm teammate.

Does Zibai need a Geo DMG Bonus Goblet?

DEF% is generally preferred. Much of her important damage scales from DEF and does not benefit from ordinary Geo DMG Bonus in the same way as a standard Geo carry.

Is Lightbearing Moonshard worth pulling?

It is most attractive for dedicated Zibai players whose team is already complete and whose current weapon is a clear step down. Check the live banner and your account's Constellation options before spending.

Final Recommendation

Choose Lightbearing Moonshard when you want Zibai's highest weapon ceiling and are comfortable investing in a specialized limited Sword. Choose Harbinger of Dawn when you can protect its passive, or Flute of Ezpitzal when you want reliable performance with no HP requirement. If Uraku Misugiri is already on your account, use it confidently and save your pulls unless Zibai is a long-term favorite.
