Luuk Herssen materials guide cover for Wuthering Waves

Luuk Herssen is a 5-star Spectro Gauntlets damage dealer in Wuthering Waves. To take him through his final ascension, you need Suncoveter's Reach from Hyvatia, Edelschnee from Lahai-Roi, and Exoswarm Pendants from local enemies. His Forte tree uses Waveworn Shards and the weekly material Gold in Memory.

The tables below keep three budgets separate: character ascension, the complete Forte tree, and his signature weapon. That matters because material planners often combine these categories and make the final total look larger—or smaller—than the work you actually intend to finish.

Quick answer: Luuk's six ascensions require 46 Suncoveter's Reach, 60 Edelschnee, Exoswarm Pendants in a 4/12/12/4 split, and 170,000 Shell Credits. Completing every Forte node adds 25/28/55/67 Waveworn Shards, 25/28/40/57 Exoswarm Pendants, 26 Gold in Memory, and 2,030,000 Shell Credits. Character EXP, Resonance Potions, weapon EXP, and Echo investment are separate.

Do not add every row together blindly. If you are not leveling every Forte node to its maximum, your real Forte cost will be lower. Likewise, Daybreaker's Spine is a separate project; Luuk's character materials do not include it.

Character ascension materials from Level 20 to 90

The total is useful for a checklist, but the phase table tells you when each item becomes necessary. The first ascension only uses low-tier Pendants and Shell Credits. Hyvatia drops and Edelschnee enter the plan from the second ascension onward.

Where to farm each Luuk Herssen material

Suncoveter's Reach: defeat Hyvatia

Suncoveter's Reach is the character boss drop. Hyvatia is found in Starward Riseway in Lahai-Roi, north of Startorch Academy. The exact number received per reward claim depends on your current world progression and the reward preview, so check the claim screen instead of planning around one fixed drop count.

Edelschnee: collect it around Mt. Gjallar

Edelschnee grows across the Mt. Gjallar area, including routes near the Resonance Nexus, nearby entrances, and the Icebreak Royan Port side of the map. The current interactive-map dataset contains 58 tracked records: 56 markers around Mount Gjallar and two overlapping puzzle records in Tidelost Forest. Luuk needs 60 Edelschnee for a complete ascension, so one map clear alone may not finish the requirement. The Resonator Nursing Unit's NANA station has also listed 15 Edelschnee for 3,000 Shell Credits each; check the current shop stock before relying on those copies.

The 58 figure describes map records, not a guaranteed inventory gain on every run or 58 widely separated stops. Previously collected plants, puzzle access, and the current world state can change what is available when you visit.

Exoswarm Pendants: target Lahai-Roi enemies

Fractured, Worn, Chipped, and Intact Exoswarm Pendants come from eligible Lahai-Roi enemies, including Outcast types such as Outcast Executioner and Thundstaff Outcast. Use the in-game material tracking function to mark current targets, then synthesize lower tiers only after checking what the next ascension or Forte level requires.

Track Roya Outcasts first, then synthesize only the tiers required by the next upgrade.

Waveworn Shards: use Forgery Challenge: Lesson in Void

Luuk's Forte tree uses the Waveworn Shard family. The matching Forgery Challenge is Lesson in Void. These materials are shared with Daybreaker's Spine, so players building both should calculate the character and weapon columns together before spending lower-tier shards.

Gold in Memory: claim Sigillum's weekly reward

Gold in Memory comes from Sigillum in the Gate of the Lost Star portal, located in Tidelost Forest. Normal access is tied to story progression, while the Guidebook may offer Early Access to the weekly challenge. Because weekly reward claims are limited and the full Forte tree needs 26 copies, this is the material most likely to control how quickly a complete build finishes.

What should you farm first?

1. Weekly materialClaim Gold in Memory when available. Missed weekly claims cannot be recovered by spending a long session later.
2. Final ascensionFinish Suncoveter's Reach and Edelschnee if Level 90 is your immediate target.
3. Core Forte levelsFarm Waveworn Shards and Pendants for the skills you are actively upgrading.
4. Signature weaponOnly add Daybreaker's Spine materials if you own it or have decided to pull it.

For a damage-focused Luuk build, Resonance Skill and Resonance Liberation are safe early priorities. Basic Attack and Forte Circuit also contribute to his real damage plan and should not be left at Level 1 as the old version of this guide suggested. Intro Skill is normally the lowest priority when resources are tight. If you intend to maximize every node, the order only changes when the power arrives—not the final material total.

Daybreaker's Spine material checklist

Daybreaker's Spine is Luuk's signature 5-star Gauntlets. Its ascensions use the same Waveworn Shard family as Luuk's Forte tree, plus Mech Cores. This shared Shard requirement is the main reason to keep the weapon budget separate until you know whether you are building both at the same time.

Daybreaker's Spine ascension totals for Waveworn Shards, Mech Cores, and Shell Credits

Daybreaker's Spine is a separate budget and does not belong in Luuk's character-ascension total.

Material familyLow tierMedium tierHigh tierFinal tier
Waveworn Shards6 LF6 MF10 HF12 FF
Mech Cores6 LF8 MF6 HF20 FF

Add 330,000 Shell Credits for the weapon ascensions. Weapon EXP is not included in that number.

A practical three-stage farming plan

  1. Get Luuk playable: farm enough ascension materials for your current level cap, then raise the two or three damage skills you use most. Do not wait for a perfect full inventory before using him.
  2. Secure weekly progress: claim Sigillum rewards consistently. Use the Guidebook's Early Access option if it is available on your account and the story route is not yet unlocked.
  3. Finish the expensive goals last: complete the final Forte levels and Daybreaker's Spine only after confirming you have enough Shell Credits, Waveworn Shards, and EXP materials for both.

Luuk Herssen materials FAQ

How many Suncoveter's Reach does Luuk need?

He needs 46 for all six character ascensions. The material begins appearing in his second ascension and comes from Hyvatia reward claims.

How many Edelschnee does Luuk need?

He needs 60 Edelschnee for Level 90 ascension. Gather it around Mt. Gjallar and check the NANA station shop if you want to supplement the overworld route.

Which weekly boss material does Luuk use?

Luuk uses Gold in Memory from Sigillum. A complete Forte tree needs 26, but a partial build needs fewer because the total assumes every applicable node is finished.

Does Luuk use Helix materials?

No. His Forte tree uses Waveworn Shards. Build the checklist around the LF, MF, HF, and FF Waveworn tiers instead of the Helix family.

Should I leave Luuk's Basic Attack at Level 1?

No. Luuk is a damage dealer whose kit converts major attacks into Basic Attack damage. Resonance Skill and Liberation are strong early priorities, but Basic Attack and Forte Circuit still deserve investment.

Are Daybreaker's Spine materials included in the character total?

No. The weapon needs its own Waveworn Shards, Mech Cores, 330,000 Shell Credits, and weapon EXP. Keep that budget separate unless you are deliberately farming Luuk and his signature together.

Final checklist

Start with Gold in Memory because weekly claims are the hardest resource to catch up on. Then finish Suncoveter's Reach and Edelschnee for Luuk's next ascension, and spend Waveworn Shards only after deciding which Forte levels and weapon ascensions you are completing. Most wasted farming comes from combining the full character and signature-weapon totals before the player has committed to both.

Source note: Material names, quantities, weapon type, role, and acquisition locations were checked against maintained Wuthering Waves database records and current location data on September 22, 2026. Exact reward yields can vary with progression; confirm them in the in-game reward preview.
