Marvel Rivals Modes Explained: A Complete Guide to Domination, Convoy and Convergence

In Marvel Rivals, the core experience of the game revolves around three main modes: Domination, Convoy, and Convergence. These modes are not options that players can directly choose, but are played in turns in the form of three major match lists: "Quick Match", "Competitive Mode" and "Human-Computer Practice". This article will deeply analyze the gameplay mechanism, victory conditions and map distribution of these three game modes to help you quickly get started and master the strategic points of each mode.

Domination: Control the area and defeat the opponent

In this mode, both teams compete for the "mission area" in the center of the map, trying to gain control in the confrontation.

  • The map is designed as a mirror image to ensure fair attack and defense routes for both sides.
  • The number of points captured increases by seconds (about 1% every 1.2 seconds), and the team that reaches 100% first wins the round.
  • Both sides can compete for control points; when the enemy enters the occupied area, the progress bar will be temporarily stopped.
  • If the enemy is close to winning, the captured point enters the overtime state: as long as there are players in the area, the overtime bar will not decrease.

Tip: Domination mode rewards quick reaction and versatile hero choices. You can unlock more flexible heroes in this mode.

Convoy: Offense and defense of transport and blocking

Convoy mode is one party escorting the vehicle while the other party prevents it from reaching its destination.

  • The first 30 seconds are the defense's deployment phase, and the offense is released afterwards.
  • The offense must first "activate" the transporter to put it into the advancing state.
  • The transporter will accelerate when accompanied by 3 or fewer attacking players, and will stagnate if no one is accompanying.
  • The map contains two checkpoints, and each time you pass one, you will increase the time bonus and set it as a non-returnable node for advancement.
  • The defense can also "recapture" the vehicle to reverse the advancement path.

Convergence: A hybrid experience of Node Battle and Escort Battle

The fusion mode combines the Domination and Convoy gameplay. The attacking party must first occupy the mission area and then unlock vehicles for escort.
