While the spotlight in Wuthering Waves Version 3.1 shines brightly on the DPS powerhouse Aemeath, astute Rovers know that a hypercarry is nothing without their support. Luuk Herssen, the Glacio tactician from the New Federation, is the engine that drives the new meta. As detailed in our Luuk Herssen Review, his ability to freeze enemies and deepen Skill Damage makes him indispensable.
However, building a support character often presents a dilemma: do you invest your limited Waveplates into him, or save them for your Main DPS? Unlike Aemeath, who needs max stats to function, Luuk can operate efficiently at lower investment levels—if you know where to cut corners.
This guide is your strategic blueprint for building Luuk Herssen efficiently. We will break down his material costs, identify which skills you can safely ignore to save resources, and provide a farming route that doesn't conflict with your Aemeath grind. Whether you are aiming for a budget "Level 70" build or a premium "Level 90" showcase, this guide covers it all.

To maximize Luuk (Level 90, relevant skills maxed), here is the inventory you need. Note that his materials differ slightly from Aemeath's to prevent "Shared Material" bottlenecks.

Pre-Farm Alert: Luuk uses "Helix" materials for his skills, whereas Aemeath uses "Cadence." This is great news! It means you can farm Aemeath's materials on Tuesday/Friday and Luuk's on Monday/Thursday without splitting your resources on the same day.
Ascension is crucial for Luuk not for the ATK stat, but for the Energy Regeneration and HP base stats that help him survive and cycle his Ultimate.

Unlike a Main DPS who needs everything maxed, Luuk is a functional support. You can save millions of Shell Credits by ignoring his non-essential skills.
Investment Priority:
Forte Circuit (Core Passive) > Resonance Liberation (Ultimate) > Resonance Skill > Intro Skill > Basic Attack
Detailed Rationale:
1. Forte Circuit: This governs his "Frost Marker" duration and the damage of his coordinated attacks. Max this first.
2. Resonance Liberation: Increases the buff magnitude. High priority.
3. Basic Attack: Do not level this past 1. You will almost never use Luuk's basic attacks for damage. He swaps in, uses Skill/Ult, and swaps out.
Strategy: If you have limited drops, prioritize Aemeath's skills first. Luuk can function with Level 6 skills (which don't require weekly boss mats) for the first few weeks.
Luuk's signature Rectifier, "The Calculated Zero," is a massive quality-of-life upgrade due to its Energy Regen stat. If you are pulling for it, here is the cost.
To reach Level 90:
This Local Specialty is found in the same region as Aemeath's flowers but in different biomes.
Location: The "Snowy Mandrake" grows specifically near Pine Trees and Rock faces in the Thawborn region, not on the ice lakes.
Route Efficiency: Teleport to the highest peak in the north. Glide down along the tree line. You can usually pick up 15-20 Mandrakes in one run. Since you need 60 total, it will take about 3 world respawns (or visiting friends) to finish.
If you are building both Aemeath and Luuk simultaneously, you need a strict schedule.
The "Glacio Duo" Weekly Schedule:
Building two characters in one patch is the ultimate resource drain. You will likely run out of Shell Credits and Weapon XP first.
Strategic Spending:
1. Pioneer Podcast (Battle Pass): If you haven't bought it yet, the 3.1 Battle Pass allows you to select specific Forgery chests. Choose "Helix" chests for Luuk to save stamina on Mondays.
2. Level Bundles: The shop often sells "Skill Material Packs" for Lunites. These are generally better value than refreshing stamina with Astrites if you are in a rush.
The "ManaBuy Advantage":
To sustain this heavy farming, you might need to top up for the Battle Pass or Lunites. Use ManaBuy's Wuthering Waves Top-Up service.
By securing discounted Lunites, you can afford to do the "50 Astrite" stamina refresh every day for a month for the same price as a standard top-up. That extra 60 Waveplates per day adds up to 1,800 Waveplates a month—enough to fully ascend a weapon!

Q: Can I stop leveling Luuk at Level 70?
A: Yes. As a support, Luuk gains most of his utility from his Passive Skills (which unlock at Ascension 2 and 4). Taking him to Level 70/80 unlocks his final level cap for skills, which is sufficient. Level 90 is a luxury for more HP.
Q: I don't have his signature weapon. What do I use?
A: Use "Variation" (4-Star). It is excellent for energy regen. It uses the same "Helix" materials, so the farming guide above still applies.
Q: Why does Luuk use Howler Cores?
A: Lore-wise, he studies the biology of the Tacet Discords in the frozen north. Gameplay-wise, Howler Cores drop from the wolves and bears common in his region. It makes farming easy as you will encounter them while picking flowers.
Q: Is it worth prefarming the 46 Boss Drops now?
A: You can't pre-farm the new boss drops until 3.1 launches. However, you can save your "Crystal Solvents" (battery packs). Save at least 10 Solvents to rush his boss drops on release day.
Q: Should I synthesize purple materials or farm them directly?
A: Always farm the highest difficulty domain you can unlock (Level 90 domain). The drop rate for Gold mats is low, but you get enough Purple/Blue mats to synthesize what you need. Never farm lower-tier domains if you can help it.
Luuk Herssen is a high-value asset for any Glacio team, and building him doesn't have to be a headache. By prioritizing his Forte Circuit and Ultimate, and skipping his Basic Attack, you can build a top-tier support with 30% fewer resources than a main DPS.
Follow the farming schedule, utilize your Battle Pass chests wisely, and grab your discounted Lunites from ManaBuy to ensure your Luuk is ready to freeze the competition on Day 1.
