Try-Not-to-Laugh Challenge: Expert Tricks

Mindset and Focus

You want to win the Try-Not-to-Laugh Challenge, right? Your mindset matters more than you think. If you rush or look for shortcuts, you miss out on the real thrill of victory. You need discipline and consistency to get better. Every time you lose, you learn something new. That’s how you grow as a player. When you lower the difficulty, you lose the excitement of beating a tough stage. True success comes from pushing through and overcoming resistance.

  • Stay disciplined and keep practicing.
  • Avoid shortcuts that make the challenge too easy.
  • Celebrate your wins, especially after tough battles.
Tip: Treat every stage as a chance to improve. The more you focus, the more you master each part of the challenge.

Auto vs Manual Play

You have two ways to play: auto or manual. Auto play lets the game handle your moves, which saves time. Manual play gives you full control, so you can react to enemy tricks and change your strategy on the fly. If you want top rewards, manual play is your best bet. You can use skills at the right moment and switch tactics when things get tough.

  • Use auto play for easy stages or when you want to farm quickly.
  • Switch to manual play for harder stages or boss fights.
  • Watch how enemies attack and adjust your moves.
Note: Manual play helps you spot mistakes and learn faster. You get better with every round.

Support Character Optimization

Support characters can make or break your team in the Try-Not-to-Laugh Challenge. Tingyun and Aventurine show up in almost every top team. They boost your damage and keep your squad alive. If you want to reach the highest ranks, you need to build your team around these key supports. You can check the full stats for these characters on the Honkai: Star Rail Wiki.

Here are some top team setups that use support characters for S ratings:

Stage Strategies for Try-Not-to-Laugh Challenge

Stage 1-3: Early Game Tactics

You start the Try-Not-to-Laugh Challenge with easier battles. Focus on learning enemy patterns and testing your team’s skills. Use trial characters to see which combos work best. Try to save your strongest skills for the last wave of each stage. If you see a tough enemy, use your support’s buffs and shields early. Keep your team healthy by rotating healers and using basic attacks to charge energy.

  • Watch for enemy weaknesses and match your attacks.
  • Use basic skills to build up your ultimate moves.
  • Don’t rush—take your time to learn each enemy’s tricks.

Stage 4-5: Mid Game Adjustments

Now, enemies hit harder and have more health. You need to adjust your team setup. Bring in support characters who can heal or shield. If you face a boss, use debuffs to lower their attack. Try switching between auto and manual play to react faster. Keep an eye on your health bars and use healing skills before it’s too late. If you're new to the game, check our beginner's guide for combat basics.

Tip: If you struggle, swap out a damage dealer for another support. Sometimes, defense wins the fight.

Stage 6-7: Advanced Enemy Strategies

The last stages test your skills the most. You face tough enemies like Sinestro, Green Lantern, The Flash, Doomsday, Black Adam, Raven, Reverse Flash, and Catwoman. Here’s how you can win:

  • Target Sinestro first and make sure your gold characters have high endurance.
  • After Sinestro, Green Lantern is easier, so save your big attacks for The Flash and Doomsday.
  • When you fight Black Adam, use power drain before his first special move.
  • Against Raven, use strong single-hit attacks to stop her from swapping health.
  • Bait Reverse Flash’s regeneration with area effect specials.
  • Stop Catwoman’s specials with power drain or special disable effects.

Stay calm and use your best moves at the right time. You can beat even the hardest battles with smart planning.

Common Mistakes

Many players miss out on rewards because they rush or ignore team synergy. You might forget to upgrade your support characters or use the wrong element against certain enemies. Sometimes, players stick with auto play when manual play would help them win. If you need extra resources to level up, ManaBuy can help. Here are some mistakes to watch out for:

  • Skipping team setup and not checking enemy types.
  • Forgetting to heal or shield before boss fights.
  • Using the same team for every stage.
Note: Take a minute to plan before each stage. Small changes can make a big difference!

Free-to-Play Tips

If you play free-to-play, you face some extra challenges. You may not have every premium character, so building a balanced team gets tricky. You can find great F2P strategies on the Honkai: Star Rail subreddit. Here’s how you can still succeed:

  • You might rely on one strong DPS and use free support or sustain units.
  • Try to balance your team with at least one healer and one buffer.
  • Focus on upgrading your best free characters first.
  • Use trial characters when available—they can fill gaps in your lineup.
Remember: Even with limited choices, smart planning and good timing help you clear every stage!
